“What’s In Your Bag” 3 stars

This assignment was to take a picture of what was in my bag and detail it.
Well, this is my book-bag that I care almost everywhere. In it is my folders for classes, three ring binder, and papers for class.I also have an agenda, kindle and cords for phone/kindle. My pen (pencil) case also goes along with it. Sometimes I have other things in there, but for the most part, that’s it.

Think about the Visuals of Storytelling- assignment 1

This assignment is to tell about my photography experiences. Well, I have always been fascinated by what taking/looking at photographs can portray.

Do you take a lot of photos now?       Yes.

What of?    My daughter, family, friends, bands, and places that I find interesting.

Do you have a particular approach to taking photos?   If the mood strikes me to take a picture or it’s a special occasion.

Do you ever work to capture a particular feeling or meaning in your photos?   I have when my daughter and I are hanging out at a park or some place peaceful

If so, how successful do you think you are?    Most of the time, yes. To me this is peaceful.

After reviewing these resources, what tactics can you use to improve your photos or to take a different approach to taking photos?

I need to look more at the shadow play around where we are taking pictures. To look at more of what is around us. What others may see.

Photo Safari week 3

I have been taking pictures throughout this week. Fortunately, I have a daughter who lets me take pictures of her. She has been my little helper with some of my projects.

First: is the dramatic use of distinct shadows.

Second: is the lighting from one side.

Third: the “Venetian blind” effect. Here, I actually did one in gray scale and the other in color.

Fourth: Is the sense of drama.

and Fifth: is the grittiness of built environment. This is the retainer wall outside of a basement door.

Now, my daughter had watched the video with me for this week. She thought that she had a cat for the NoirCat. She had two. Now, they aren’t black cats, but this was our fun little NoirCat

This was a fun assignment to work on.

Week Two

I am actually finding the writing assignments and daily create assignments to be quite fun.  I am learning a lot from them.

I was one who didn’t want a twitter account and didn’t look at blogs much. But I will say that this has been an interesting and eye opening experience.

I liked reading then listening to The Shadow  The Death Triangle. I found the script to be able to keep my attention. One I like old-school mysteries. Two, it had twist that kept me wondering.  Once I read it, I had to listen to the original recording. The technology back then to do the different types of sounds was inventive.

The Postman Always Rings Twice was a story that I could not really get into. It had some twist and turns throughout, but for some reason, it didn’t hit the “enjoy reading me” button.

The third reading I did was The Killers by Ernest Hemingway. Other than the racial slurs, the story line was intriguing. It was kind of sad to me that Ole Anderson was basically giving up, when the others were trying to help him.

For my character, I actually had a story I had been writing. I decided to use her. She is part Cherokee Indian, Scott-Irish, and German.  If you haven’t guessed, I am really into the moon, stars, and sun. So when looking for a name for her, I choose one that meant “power of the moon”, Miakoda.

Once upon a time

flatness morbid eyes abnormally careless tense pounding vast predatory bumble

The little rabbit was tense when he saw the wolf coming out of the woods.  The wolf could smell the rabbit, moving to his predatory stance.

The rabbit looked at the flatness of the meadow and decided to cross the vast area. The wolf started pounding after the rabbit in is careless pursuit of him.

The wolf ran near a tree that housed a bumble bee nest. The bees were abnormally active for this time of day. When the wolf ran near, his hind end hit the tree when he turned. The bees swarmed down upon the wolf.

The rabbit looked back in morbid relief as the bees went for the eyes of the wolf.

After a few minutes, the rabbit hiding, the wolf got into the pond next to the meadow. Leaving the bees to go back to their nest

Old Photo

old photo It was to be a happy day for the wedding couple. Being of a time when people worried about every little thing, they tried to make their wedding day special and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the older sister of the bride decided to throw a hissy-fit.

“He was supposed to be mine”, “What does she have that I don’t have”, were some of her rants.

The fathers of the couple had agreed to the possibility of a marriage years before. The older sister had it in her head that the groom would be hers. She had a high opinion of herself, thinking less of the youngest sister.

When the groom came to meet the sisters, he took one look at the youngest and new that she was the one for him. She was beautiful, smart, and sweet. He thought that she would be the perfect wife for him.

The oldest sister came of as arrogant, hateful, and condescending. He knew that this would not be good for his shop at home or his family.

Right before the picture was taken, the brides father told the oldest sister that if she made another scene, he was shipping her off to a nunnery. Therefore, when the picture was taken, everyone was trying to get through the pictures.

Writing assignment

There is a quote from the Dark-Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon that  states “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”.

This quote was said by the character Acheron who is the leader and turns out to be a form of a Greek God. I find it fascinating because it is so true. Many people in this world do things just because they can. They really don’t think about the people that are affected by their decisions or actions.

Just because you can do a cartwheel, doesn’t mean you should. You might hit the person next to you. Just because you can steal something, doesn’t mean that that something means something to who you steal it from. Maybe it is the last thing a loved one gave them before they died. Maybe it is the only money they have to pay their bills.
